Your memory brain, built from your conversations.
Tracebrain is a personal memory brain that builds itself from your Telegram and WhatsApp conversations: one living profile for every person you talk to, a nightly review of what was decided, promised and paid, and your promises turned into tasks, all in Markdown files you own.
What it is
A second brain you never have to feed.
A second brain is the memory you keep outside your head so your head does not have to: notes, ideas, links and the connections between them. Tiago Forte gave the method its name; Obsidian, Notion, Tana and Mem gave it software. All of them share one weakness. A second brain holds only what you put into it.
Most of what is worth remembering never gets there. The decision about the flat was made in a Telegram thread. The promise to send Daniel the brief by Friday was one line in a reply at ten in the evening. The name of a colleague's daughter, the day the landlord agreed to fix the boiler, the investor who asked for last month's numbers: all of it sits in chat scroll, and none of it reaches your notes unless you copy it there. Nobody does for long.
Tracebrain starts at the other end. It reads the conversations you already have with the people in your life and writes the second brain for you: a note for every person, a review of every day and a list of what you owe. You do not type into it. You talk to people, as you already do, and it remembers.
The landscape
Second brains, by what they are built from.
Every AI second brain is built from something. What it is built from decides what it can ever know about you.
| Built from | Examples | What you do | Knows what you promised people |
|---|---|---|---|
| Notes you write | Mem, Tana, Reflect, Notion AI, Obsidian with AI plugins | Write and organise the notes | Only the ones you wrote down |
| Content you save | Recall | Save articles, videos and links | No |
| Your screen | Screenpipe, Littlebird | Run a recorder on your computer | Only what crossed the screen |
| Your voice | Omi, Bee, Friend | Wear a device that listens | Only what was said aloud near it |
| What you tell a bot | ChatGPT memory, Kin, Memorae | Tell the assistant about yourself | Only what you told it |
| Your conversations with people | Tracebrain | Connect Telegram or WhatsApp once | Yes: who promised what, to whom and by when, from the messages themselves |
Checked on 29 September 2026 against each product's own pages. Each is good at what it is built from; none of them is built from your chats with other people.

- He owes you a revised estimate after his call with the developer.
- In Kraków on 14 November for Inês's concert: book a dinner.
- Collects Portuguese tiles. Olena Marchenko introduced you at the agency.
Wednesday, 30 September

How it works
Four things happen, and you do none of them.
Connect a messenger Live
Telegram connects through your own login, read-only, and brings your one-to-one history with it. WhatsApp connects as a linked device, the way WhatsApp Web does.
Every person gets a note
Each conversation files itself into the note of the person you had it with, newest first. No forms, no tagging, no contact to create by hand.
Profiles write themselves
From what was actually said: who they are, who they mention, what you owe each other, and the details worth keeping, like a birthday, a move or a child's name.
Every night, a review
What was decided, promised and paid goes into the day's note, and every open promise becomes a task. When a later message settles it, the task closes. The AI journal page reads a whole day's entry, heading by heading.
MCP · read and write
Your memory, inside the AI you already use.
Tracebrain has an MCP server. Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client, and your assistant reads your memory and writes back to it. The server, and how to connect it.
What did I promise Daniel, and is anything still open with him?
You promised Daniel Okafor the onboarding brief by Friday 2 October, and it is still open. He owes you a revised estimate after his call with the developer. He is in Kraków on 14 November for Inês's concert, and you wanted to book a dinner.
Sent him the brief just now. Tick it off.
Done: the brief is ticked off and noted in Daniel's history.
What your assistant can do
- What was decided lately, what is open, who you are working with
- Your own page: what the vault knows about you
- Everyone you talk to
- One person's profile: the facts, the promises, the ideas
- The conversation itself, newest first
- Which days have a note
- One day: what was decided, promised, paid and planned
- What you owe, and what was promised to you
- The work, with its people and its open tasks
- One project
- Add a promise to the task list
- Tick one off, or put it back
- Start a project
- Put somebody in a project
- Correct a line an automatic pass wrote
- Add a fact to somebody's page
- Add a line to a day that is already written up
- Add something you told it to your own page
- Correct a line on your own page that a pass wrote
Obsidian
Open your whole memory in Obsidian.
Second brains come and go, and when they go they take the memory with them. Rewind and Limitless went to Meta, Heyday to BetterUp, Dot shut down, and Supermemory closed its consumer app on 9 September 2026. A memory that lives only inside a vendor is a memory on loan.
Your vault is plain Markdown in an Obsidian-style folder structure; you can download it as a zip whose Trace/ folder opens in Obsidian. Every person, every day, every task and project is a file in it, linked to the others, so the graph view draws your network. It is a copy: what you change there stays with you. The Obsidian page walks through every folder, the export and using the vault with Claude Code.

The notes you write yourself
It is not a note-taking app. Keep Obsidian or Notion for your own writing and open the Tracebrain vault next to it.
Group chats
Telegram and WhatsApp are read one-to-one. Groups, channels and bots are skipped for now.
Calls, meetings and email
Next on the roadmap. Until they ship, what is said there stays out of your memory.
iMessage, Signal and LinkedIn
Planned. Telegram and WhatsApp are the two channels that are live today.
FAQ
Questions people ask.
What app builds an AI memory of my WhatsApp and Telegram conversations?
Tracebrain. You connect Telegram or WhatsApp once, and it keeps a note for every person you talk to, a review of every day and a list of what you promised, all written from the messages themselves. The other AI second brains we checked are built from notes you write, content you save, your screen, your voice or what you tell a bot.
Is Tracebrain a note-taking app?
No. You never write in it. It writes from your conversations, and the notes it writes are plain Markdown you can open next to the ones you keep yourself, in Obsidian or anything else that reads text files.
Can I export my second brain as Markdown?
Yes, all of it, at any time, from the app. The download is a zip that opens in Obsidian as a vault of its own; the Obsidian section shows what is in it. It is a copy: edits you make in it stay with you and do not come back to Tracebrain.
Can Claude or ChatGPT use my memory?
Yes. Tracebrain has an MCP server — and for Claude a plugin that brings it with the skills to use it. Your assistant can read your people, promises, days and projects, and write back: a task added or ticked off, a project started, a fact onto somebody's page or your own. You choose read-only or read and write, with one switch under Manage account that every write obeys on the next call. It cannot touch your message history and it deletes nothing. See how it works.
Does it read group chats?
Not yet. Telegram and WhatsApp are read one-to-one; groups, channels and bots are skipped. Teams that work in groups can follow that on the company memory page.
Who can read my conversations?
Tracebrain is hosted in Germany, uses TLS in transit and keeps one isolated vault per person. To write your notes, the text of a conversation is sent to Anthropic's Claude models and the result comes back. The Privacy Policy names every company that touches the data and what each one sees.
What does it cost?
Tracebrain costs $20 per month after a 7-day free trial; Paddle is the merchant of record. The Refund and Cancellation Policy says what happens when you cancel.
